Wilson 5 years old!

Wilson,

You turned 5 years old a month and a half ago.  I can hardly believe it.  You REALLY are growing up so fast.  Over the last month or so, you have gained so much confidence, and it has been amazing to see.  You started 4K at a new school, Oakbrook, and you have made lots of new friends.  You come home every day telling us all about your day.  Last school year, it was like pulling teeth to get you to tell us ANYTHING that happened at school.  Now you have stories for everything, and we love it.  Tonight, for example, you said "my coach at school wears those rings on her ears.  Does that mean she's a girl?  She has curly hair like Wallace."  This was referring to your PE teacher who is a female.

When we ask what you want to be when you grow up, it's a T rex or cement truck driver in the past.  Your current plan is to be "the Icee man at Target, and it would never be closed!"  This new career path developed after one trip to Target when the concession/Icee area was closed.  It was a crisis.

Until about 2 months ago, I would have said you were a truly anxious kid.  Honestly, though, now I feel like that is one huge prayer the Lord has answered.  You definitely get very upset if plans change, but your anxiety has improved for sure.  You also previously HATED group pictures, but you took your soccer pictures like a boss last week - team ones and individual.  I'm telling you - it's like you're a whole new kid over the last few weeks.

You did ask me one night at bedtime "What will happen if my heart stops beeping in my belly?"  That one took some time to answer.

You do NOT like group performances.  Or at least you didn't when you had your 4K spring fair at FBS.  You shyly turn around, don't sing, and cling to your teacher.

You have an enormous helper/servant heart.  You love to help us go to Ingles and carry in groceries.

You LOVE super heroes.  You tend to hit/tackle Wallace, and you'll kiss Woodsie anytime we ask.  You're a great big brother and have truly become super helpful.  You carry Woods' backpack out for me when you're with me at school pick up, and you dress yourself completely for school.

My daddy had a hip replacement surgery back in June, and it was so cute when you asked "Is Papa gonna be able to chase me around tomorrow with his new hip?"  You sure do love your grandparents, and I'm so thankful that you have such a good relationship with them.  You OWN your Gigi.  She picks you up from school on Tuesdays, and you can always convince her to take you to McDonald's for a happy meal.  I'm pretty sure it's the highlight of your week.

"What if the Disney world ship gets a hole in it?"  - in reference to us discussing a potential Disney cruise in the future.  We'll hold off on that for now.

5 year Stats:
Weight: 41 lb, 6 oz    52%
Height:  3 ft, 6.5 in.,   36%
BMI 71%??  16.10

You love playing outside, and we spend lost of time out there.  You learned how to swim this summer (again - you almost had it last summer), you can write your name, and you seem ready to start reading soon.  We are so glad we made the decision to let you be one of the OLDEST kids in your class instead of the youngest.  You seem to like being a leader, and we are thankful for that.

Our prayer for you is that you will learn about Jesus and ask him to be your Savior at an early age.  We pray for you to have good friends and to be a good friend.  We ask God to bless you with an amazing wife some day.  We thank Him for your health, and we ask for your happiness.  Wilson, we love you more than you will ever know, even when you have a meltdown while brushing your teeth at night because you are completely exhausted.  Thank you for loving us, and thank you, Lord, for letting us be Wilson's earthly parents.

Love, Mommy and Daddy
