Weekend Away!

Caleb and I had our first overnight trip away from Wilson this weekend, and we just decided to rip it off like a BandAid and go for 3 nights the first time.  Of course, we missed Wilson, but we had a wonderful trip together just as Caleb and Kathryn.  It felt a little strange not carrying a diaper bag, worrying about nap time, and trying to feed him some pureed sweet potatoes on the go.  But it was so, soooo nice not having a schedule.

Don't get me wrong...we face timed with Wilson at least once a day.  We didn't want him to forget his Mommy and Daddy.  He was in good hands with Caleb's parents.  They were so gracious to come keep him for us at our house.  It was so nice to not have to worry about him.  He was being loved on by his grandparents all weekend long.

The purpose of the trip was for me to go to a CME conference at the Double Tree downtown Charleston.  I did go to a few of the meetings, and I learned some good medicine.  I even ran into my BFF from PA school, Abbie, at the conference.  I had no clue she would be there, and I was thrilled to catch up.

On our first night in Charleston, we went to dinner at my fave, Kickin Chicken.  Then we went to the town center in Mt. Pleasant for some shopping before seeing Safe Haven.  We had not been out to a movie together since before Wilson.  It was so.much.fun. just hanging out with Caleb.  We felt so young again.

We stayed at The Charleston Place hotel.  I've always wanted to stay there, and we decided this was the perfect time to do it.  It's the perfect location, in the middle of everything.  Literally.  Like, I went shopping for a new bathing suit while waiting to check in, at a precious store just steps away from the front desk.

We loved our room.  It was just so southern.  And perfect.

We had a pretty cool view.

I went to the conference for a bit on Friday morning, and then we had lunch at Five Loaves downtown.  We spent some time poolside at the hotel Friday afternoon, got a pedicure, and went out to dinner at McCrady's.

  Five Loaves was delicious!

Caleb cleaned his plate at McCrady's!

Then we met up with Matt and Alyssa for drinks at Cypress and at the hotel bar.  They were out for their anniversary, and we had fun hanging out with them sans babies.

Cheers!

Caleb and I went for an amazing 4 mile run on Saturday around the Battery, Rainbow Row, etc., and it felt amazing.  Then we laid out and went for a swim at the hotel before shopping on King Street.  It was a pretty perfect day.

We got this hilarious picture of Wilson after a 3 hour nap on his Gramme.

We ended the night with drinks at Rooftop, dinner at Bocci's, and a cupcake from Cupcake on King Street with Abbie and Allen.

It was wonderful getaway with my husband and best friend, and we were so happy to come home to our precious baby boy Sunday morning!  Thank you SO much Gramme and Papa for taking such great care of him for us!!!
