Hilton Head

Caleb won 2 free nights at a little villa in Hilton Head through his work (Go Caleb!) so the two of us made use of them this weekend. Neither of us had been to Hilton Head in a long time so it was fun to explore a new little beach town.

Gramme and Papa came up to keep Wilson for us.  We are thankful for time away just the two of us and that he was able to spend some time with them.  We drove there on Friday afternoon and explored a little bit when we arrived.  We went down to Harbor Town Friday night to shop and have dinner.  We ate at Quarterdeck, a neat little restaurant right on the water.

We went into a Lilly store in Harbor Town, and the owner immediately offered Caleb a "man chair" and a beer.  He was 100% happy while I shopped.

My friend Jenn recommended Carolina Cupcakes, and I'm so glad we took her suggestion.  It was yummy!

The next morning, we had breakfast at Hilton Head Diner.

While eating, we decided we wanted to go do something adventurous afterwards - canoe, bike ride, zipline - those things are adventurous for us, HA!  There was a kiosk at exit of the restaurant with a man who had brochures for all those activities.  We made the mistake of asking him for suggestions.  20 minutes later, we were in one of those time share meetings with a jerk named Chuck.

The whole event was hilarious.  Caleb somewhat enjoyed seeing the amusing sales tactics they use.  For instance, we got $100 to listen to this man talk for 30 minutes.  You know it's not that awesome of a product you're selling when you give me $100 just to listen : )

Anyway, once we toured the resort, I broke the news to Chuck that we were not interested in buying whatever it was he was trying to sell us, and we were on our way!

By then, the rain had stopped so we hopped on our bikes and rode all over the beach.

This poor turtle didn't make it out.  Kinda depressing.

After laying out by the pool for a while, we went for another bike ride to get a pedicure.  On the way back, it started raining.  Not misting.  RAINING!  We laughed the whole almost 2 mile ride back - it really was fun!  And funny.  I thought these clothes would be ruined, but they somehow came clean!

We went out to dinner Saturday night, and it was so much fun!

We cleaned our plates and even saved room for delicious dessert!

Then we went to the Tiki Hut for drinks on the beach!  There was an 80s rock band and a wide assortment of people there.  It was very entertaining.

We enjoyed the view on our drive home Sunday morning.

And we were so happy to get home to this sweet face we missed so much!

It was great to get away just the 2 of us for a couple of days!
